Maribor is a city of significant importance in Slovenia, serving as the second largest city in the country and the primary metropolis of the lower Styria region. It also holds the title of the administrative, economic, educational, and cultural hub of Eastern Slovenia. The city has a rich history, with its first recorded mention as a castle dating back to 1164, and its development as a settlement in 1209.
